LIVE AT THE BBC
This CD consists of 20
tracks recorded live at BBC Radio between 1969 and 1972, back in those times
it was hard to get radio play
even though Slade were a
big name playing live gigs, the BBC was a very good way of getting across to
the live radio listeners.
This CD contains some of
Slade's excellent very early compositions, plus cover versions from some great
song writers such as
Justin Haywood, John Sebastian,
Janis Joplin, Lennon/McCartney to name just a few.
This fantastic collection of
rare and largely unissued material not only shows the excellent "studio Slade",
but also the pre-fame
Slade: a tight, hard-hitting
combo doing a range of soul, psychedelic, pop and rock covers, while making
tentative and highly
successful steps into writing
their own material.
As a bonus to this CD, 4 Radio
1 Jingles have been included
Overall "Live At The BBC" is
super fast, super loud rock that leaves you with your hair standing on end and
definitely something to
consider buying if you ever had
a leaning toward Noddy & Co.
If not It could well convert
you.

LIVE AT THE PARIS THEATRE,
LONDON 1972
This is a live concert recorded at the Paris Studios in August 1972 for Radio 1's In Concert series.
In the past this was only
available as a bootleg but a little poor in quality, this is nothing like that.
This live concert has crystal
clear sound, and Jim Leas' bass guitaring sound is excellent...
This was a Slade part two
special, 1st part being a hour long documentary (Six Days On The Road)
This is Slade Slade in all
their rollicking glory, tearing up the stage with a mixture of singles & covers.
Including Janis Joplin’s ‘Move
Over’, 'Good Golly Miss Molly', 'In Like A Shot (From My Gun)'
Plus 'Coz I Luv You', 'Take Me
Bak 'Ome', 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now' which all reached number 1
in the British charts. The gig
wasn’t without its problems older audience members, “the Jimmy Young
crowd, who came in from
shopping,” as Jim Lea remembers, had a hard time dealing with the ear
shattering volume, there were
also problems with some of their equipment at times.
All in all you get 36 re -
mastered tracks of studio sessions, radio jingles and a live show
all previously unreleased
documenting the period 1969 to 1972.
Slade 'Live at the BBC' comes
with a stylish 24-page booklet, what more could you ask for under £10
The whole set will blow your
socks off.
