At last "Slade" fans have some new releases to look forward to from "Unionsquaremusic",

with the first batch of 4 remastered cd's (with added bonus tracks) being released August 21st 2006.

I've listened to the 4 cd's and read the well informed booklets included, and am very impressed in what "Unionsquaremusic"

have done!!! it's a shame Slade's previous releases couldn't have been done the same way, for us dedicated fans.

But NOW that's all changed, thanks to these "Remasters" and I'm positive....the cd's "Unionsquaremusic"

are going to release in future months will be of the same great standard.

Hopefully theses new releases may attract new listeners, that on the knowledge of the remastes perhaps be intrigued by Slade. These remasters will not only prove what the hype was all about, but will also inform the listener as to how it all started, which until now that information was mostly provide by dedicated fan's web sites.

Firstly we have.....

BEGINNINGS/PLAY IT LOUD(Cat No: SALVOCD001)

This cd combines the first 2 original releases "Beginnings and Play It Loud" Definitely value for money.

"Beginnings" was the first release(1969) when the band were known as "Ambrose Slade" and a very good cd indeed.

It's very crisp and clear, and the booklet is very well narrated and laid out (featuring photographs from their skinhead era) by Dave Ling.

Featuring classics as, "Genesis" (later to have lyrics included and then to be called "Know Who You Are"), "Fly Me High", "Born to Be Wild".

This Was to become the start of rock legends "Slade"

***

Next came "Play It Loud"

This was the bands first album under the new name of "Slade".

They changed their style to skinhead appearance, and their music became a little heavier to suit their image.

This cd contains classics such as :- "Know Who You Are", "Shape Of Things To Come", "One Way Hotel", "Sweet Box"

and a cracking ballad "Dapple Rose"........You should do exactly what this cd is called and PLAY IT LOUD and enjoy the effort

Slade have put into making it. Included with this double cd are 2 bonus tracks, "Wild winds Are Blowing"

and Slade's first hit "Get Down And Get With It"

All in all this is a double cd of pure genius, with 77:13 mins of excellent music.

Remember to, this is 2 for the price of 1.....WELL DONE Unionsquaremusic!!!!

A GREAT PACKAGE INDEED!!!

Just what us Slade fans needed.

SLAYED?(Cat No: SALVOCD002)

This cd was Slade's first chart topping album originally released 1972(and sounds just a clear), this was the start of another style of Slade (glitter and glam and Dave Hills high forehead haircut). This cd contains is a real foot stomper and contains 2 number 1's(Gudbuy T'Jane and Mama Weer All Crazee Now), plus unforgettable tracks.... "How Do You Ride", "Look At Last Nite", "Move Over" to name a few.

Also this cd has an added 5 pieces of material, including an interview with "Melanie" readers, with no crackles (which was originally a floppy record free with the magazine)

Again the enclosed booklet is very informative, and well laid out by Dave Ling.

This was my 1st Slade album I bought, and this cd sounds just as good as then.

I would recommend this cd highly......if you aint heard this.....

GO OUT AND BUY IT!!!

Playing time 53:43 mins

OLD NEW BORROWED AND BLUE (Cat No: SALVOCD003)

This was also a number 1 hit for Slade (originally released 1974)

A very loud and energetic cd indeed, containing hits "My Friend Stan" and "Everyday" plus "Just A Little Bit", "My Town" and the very loud "Don't Blame Me" (which was the B-side to the ever so lovely Merry Xmas Everybody"

There are 5 added bonus tracks on this cd, of pure quality including another interview with "Melanie" readers

This package is very well put together, with some nice unseen photographs, and narrated very good by Dave Ling.

Playing time is 57:42 mins, but seems to go even quicker whilst listening to it, and I guarantee your foot will be tapping the floor during and after playing this cd.

WELL WORTH LISTENING TO!!!

THE LIVE ANTHOLOGY (Cat No: SALVOCD201)

This is the 4th remaster "Unionsquaremusic" have done, and my own opinion is it's the BEST BY FAR!!!

This is a compilation of 4.....yes 4 LIVE concerts.... NEVER been put as 1 package before.

It contains 23 songs and has a playing time of......145:46 mins (that's over 2 hrs of great listening)

Slade Alive :- originally  reached number 2 in the album charts (1972), and showed what power there was to come from the band, with top songs as "Hear Me Calling", "Darling Be Home Soon" and their finishing song "Born To Be Wild"( with the memorable claxton playing at the end, to capture the event)

Slade Alive Vol.2 :- is just as good featuring 4 number 1's,plus "Be" a classic and very hard to do live.

"One Eyed Jacks" is a great song too.....their is so much power put into this cd from Nod and the boys.

Slade On Stage :- ....top class cd "A Night To Remember" is my favourite here, FULL POWER SLADE....especially with Jim Lea's

performance (his Hendrix performance is better than the original as far as I'm concerned)

"Rock an roll preacher" is another song that WILL get the feet tapping, the same as "We'll Bring The House Down" (which was the 1st time I saw Slade...The House Down Tour 1981)

Alive at Reading '80 :- This is when Slade, were at a low but stepped in to replace "Ozzy Ozborne" and  they stole the show and retrieved

their career, pulling in huge crowds again. This cd contains such hits as " When I'm dancin' ",

"Born to be wild", "Merry Xmas everybody" just to name a few.

The inner covers and booklet are well laid out yet again thanks to Dave Ling.

"The Live Anthology" is power packed double cd, which is a MUST for any SERIOUS music collector.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All in all these a 4 very well put together cd's, and each 1 is under £10(great value for money).

I only wish the lyrics could have been included to complete the package, but they can be found on various Slade sites on my links page.

Unionsquaremusic will be releasing more Slade remasters in September
